So who are we?
We’re two brothers, Arn and Adrian.
Adrian is an intensive care nurse. Arn is a game developer.
Two quite different professions, you might think. But we’ve always had more in common than our jobs suggest: curiosity, figuring things out, and a tendency to come up with ideas that take a little more work than we first imagined.
BetweenShift became one of those ideas.
We grew up in a family of eight siblings.
It was rarely quiet. And we learned early on to help each other out.
We’ve also seen firsthand, when our parents’ business went under, that life sometimes takes a different path than planned. That’s when you realise how much easier things become when you’re not on your own.
That feeling has stayed with us ever since. Now we’ve built it into an app.
We simply missed a place where healthcare workers can just be... people.
Where you can say the day was crap.
Or brilliant.
Or both at once.
Where you can tell someone what happened without being met with a blank:
“Oh wow, that’s rough.”
Because healthcare is full of things that are hard to explain to someone who hasn’t been there. The absurd, the beautiful, the hard, and that one shift you’d rather forget but still end up talking about on the next break. Sometimes it takes a major effort. Sometimes all it takes is someone who listens and understands exactly what you mean.
So we built a place for it.
To talk. Share. Laugh. Vent. Recognise yourself in someone else.
Not because we think we can fix healthcare. We’re happy to leave that job to someone else.
